"Rooms are big, large terrace. You are pretty much free to do as you please. If you are with a car there is ample parking on the street outside. Location is both central and quiet. I met the manager on checkout and he was a really nice guy who got me a taxi at a short notice to take me to the bus station which isn’t far away.. it’s not always easy to find a taxi, which I needed because of luggage, at short notice for a short distance in Tulum. Beach towels are made available."

"This was a room for two people. One bedside light didn’t work and the light switch was visibly broken. It was never repaired during my stay here even though I informed the reception at the start . As I was on my own during this leg of my trip it wasn’t a problem but it would have been if my partner was with me. The outside terrace was not very clean with somebody’s cigarette stubs in the ashtray when I checked in. The purified water bottle was not refilled once during my stay here. When it rains heavily, the room floods as the terrace door is always kept open on the mosquito net; at least that is where I think the water came from. So when it rained when I was out, I came back to find a partly flooded room. Furthermore, the rainwater drains from a hole in the outer walls directly onto the terrace floor and the outside floor just outside the entry door on the other side of the room, instead of over the parapet or through a proper drain pipe. This means that you hear a very loud noise of water hitting the concrete over and above the rain at night ; it’s a bit ridiculous, there is not a proper water drain. I was sent a reminder to check out a day before actual checkout when I was some 80km away, so I didn’t quite appreciate that, and no, this is not a Booking.com practice. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, this is not one , it’s just pointing out some facts that can be fixed , and frankly I might consider staying here again , but I think I will look for better options at this price."

"The location is excellent. Breakfast is abundant and very good. The valet parking service is convenient, with a great job done by George. We received a warm welcome from Melissa, who made us feel comfortable right away. The beach is beautiful, with excellent food and drink service."

"The bed sheets were slightly dirty. The room felt old and not well maintained. There were not enough power outlets or light points near the bed, and overall the room was quite dark. Additionally, the actual location of the standard room (Manglar 1 and 2) is not clearly represented: it is located in the building next to the reception and across the road, therefore farther from the beach."

"We absolutely loved our stay at Playa Canek, the location was spot on, close enough to all the action without the noise :) Bruno the owner is great, lovely friendly guy who we shared plenty of tequilas with down at the beach bar :) The breakfast is fab, local eggs cooked how you like with toast, fruit & coffee. Sunrise is epic on the hammock, 6.50 am sunrise I was there from 5.50 stars & purple pink skies accompanied by Natcho, the friendliest hotel dog. Teresa was fabulous at organising dinner reservations & our transfer back to the airport 24hr Go mart is a lovely 5 Minute stroll away that has coffees, pastries, frappes & snacks etc There is a food court directly opposite, tacos, pizzas, burgers, shrimp & munchies bar serving fab cocktails 10/10 stay We would love to return, thank you for having us at your little slice of paradise on the beach Bruno & co Nicky & Carl :)"
