"Moderna sits on one of Coimbra’s narrow historic streets, which gives the accommodation a genuine sense of the city’s character. Staying there feels connected to the older part of Coimbra, with its traditional architecture and quiet charm. I first stayed here in 2024, shortly after the refurbishment. Returning two years later, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the “Residencial” remains spotless and very well maintained. The level of care put into the property is still evident in the cleanliness, the condition of the furnishings, and the overall presentation of the rooms. The room includes air conditioning, which is useful throughout the year—cooling the space during warm weather and providing reliable heating on colder days. Everything in the room was clean and in good working order, contributing to a comfortable stay. The staff continue to be helpful and polite, offering a welcoming and professional atmosphere that complements the accommodation’s charm."

"Although the room has a sound‑proof window, the door allows noise from the corridor to enter very easily. Conversations in the hallway can be heard quite loudly inside the room, which affects the overall sense of privacy and rest. Sealing the door frame with silicone or another suitable insulating material would significantly reduce the noise transfer and improve the comfort of future guests."

"What I did not like is about the noise from corridors. Since the was not soundproof. We can clearly hear people talking, walking and opening/ closing door. In which case, I don’t like it that much. But overall was ok for me."

"I was very pleased with the staff: they accompanied me to the room, explained how everything worked, and were both professional and courteous throughout, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel is centrally located, the room is spacious and very clean, and the facilities are satisfactory. I was also able to sleep peacefully at night. Considering the rate of €40 per night, I believe it offers excellent value for money, which is why my overall experience was highly positive."

TV place to high up, on the wall near the ceiling, too watch. There was no tea and coffee facilities, or a kettle. there was hardly any water coming from the basin tab to wash our faces or hands."

"Location: very close to the Baixa (lower part of the historic center), and excellent access to train station or stop of the shuttle bus to intercity train station. Room: I liked the slight touch of vintage, although the bathroom was totally new (I only slightly missed a focused light near the mirror for shaving). I did not need any parking."

One of guy blocked off what appeared to be a local old man trying to find his way. With respect to the room, having chairs (whatever quality) for the balcony would have been nice. No safe in the room."
