"A wonderful , basic cabin located in the arguably the best location on the island . Surrounded by acres of exotic fruit and native forest beyond. Birdlife is prolific. This is a place to stay for birdwatching with flocks of African grey parrots, kingfishers, egrets .. and so much more to see.. Excellent value meals can be brought to your table daily. Freshly caught fish, local grown fruit and rice. No need to cook . It's good quality and great value. Bring cash for guides and daily, national park entry fees . The beach is amazing ... REALLY"

Ensure you have bought a local sim-card, loaded with data before arriving. Wifi may not work. Also, before arriving, stop at a supermarket and buy sufficient drinking water for your stay. ( 2 litres per person per day minimum ). Bring mosquito spray for your jungle walks and be prepared to rough it .

"The beds are extremely comfortable, the check in super easy, the cottage is super cozy, warm and has everything you need for cooking. The location is great, in a secluded spot, absolutely peaceful. We love the dogs, it was a bonus be able to pet and play with them."

Due to my carelessness, I thought the Smyrr cottage had a shower (the photos only show a sink and toilet, but I assumed the shower just wasn't in the photo), so if you're staying longer, you might want to take that into consideration.

Le petit chemin qui mène jusqu'à l'hébergement est un peu difficile à emprunter. Surtout avec les bagages.

"Lovely atmosphere and had all the facilities we needed. It was dark when we arrived making it a bit difficult to find however we managed to contact the manager and were guided to the property. There was no restaurant or cafe within walking distance but the young man who welcomed us went out of his way to go and get dinner and bring it back for us. A peaceful and comfortable stay. I would recommend this place."

There was no signpost on the main road to give directions. Not so bad during the day but necessary at night.

"I absolutely loved the place! I came together with my friend with intention to relax and chill. The place was super cozy, relaxing and in a lovely calm area. When we came in november, there were still some wedding decoration left on the staircase (from the owners sons wedding the month before), and as a future bride myself I felt enchanted! "This was such a beautiful stay! Everything is very clean and spacious, we loved the big shower in the bathroom and the overall design of this place :) Breakfast was also so nice and abundant! There's also a common area with kitchen if you need to + board games, very cosy especially if you're not so lucky with the weather like us. The pool seemed really nice but unfortunately we couldn't use it because it was too windy and cloudy when we were there."

"Rooms were spacious, great hot water and comfy bed. The area was close to everything but far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle. Rooms were also sound proof. Darrin was very helpful, he recommended and booked us on a great hiking tour which I can highly recommend."

Accès piéton un peu raide pour monter les bagages mais c'est le prix de la tranquillité

"We loved this place - set out in the middle of the rain forest with little other than toucans, howler monkeys, bats and agouti for company. I admit that if you are looking for a bland, all inclusive resort - La Ceiba may not be for you. But if you you want to sleep in the rainforest then this place is beyond perfect. There's a decent track about 400m long from where you park to the accommodation. It is lit at night - watch out for snakes and you'll definitely see frogs."

Just a suggestion - you should promote the work of the Jaguar Rescue Center more. We stayed here partly because the money is used to help wildlife - but many people may not make that connection and so may not go and visit the JRC
